Summer Adventure 2016

What an amazing summer we had this year.  We had the privilege of hosting 1,909 campers this summer!  Our three main goals for each summer are to provide a safe, fun and Christ focused place.  We believe these goals were accomplished in great ways this summer.

Our theme for the summer of 2016 was Lost and Found.  We provided a different adventure for our campers each week, journeying on the high seas, exploring the wilderness, learning a new sport, teaming up with superheros or learning a new instrument .  Each week brought with it new challenges and excitement but the same saving message of Christ.  We had the joy of celebrating 807 first time or re-commitments to Christ throughout the summer.

This summer we introduced a new highlight to our summer ministries which allowed for camp to share the gospel of Christ in a creative way by bringing all three camps together once a week to watch Jesus Theatre.  This production, put on by our program staff, told the story of creation, fall and redemption through Christ's victory on the cross.  It was incredible to see how God used this way of telling His story of salvation and opened opportunities for camp staff to share the good new of Christ with campers.

We finished off the summer with our first ever Teen Week at Camp Gilmore.  We welcomed in 75 campers and had an amazing time doing wilderness type activities each day, like hiking, boldering or going to the beach.  We also had team competitions throughout the week.  Campers would have daily activities or games that would earn their color team (red, green, purple, blue) points.  Some of these activities included a giant color war, an all camp relay race and camp wide games.  We closed off the final night of camp with a time of worship and prayer.  It was amazing to see so many youth being lead in prayer by cabin leaders and staff while gathered around the campfire.

Praise God for the work he is doing through the ministry of Camp Mt Crags, Gilmore and Wilderness.  We are so thankful to all the staff and volunteers who served throughout the summer in amazing ways.  We look forward to see what 2017 will bring.
